Calumet College of St. Joseph update, April 2025
We had spring break at the beginning of March, and our softball and baseball teams were in Florida for competitions. They enjoyed the warm weather and sun with mixed results on the fields. Our men’s basketball team competed in conference tournament play at the beginning of March and lost in the second round. This was the first time in about eight years the men’s team has made it to post-season play. The United States Bowling Congress listed Calumet College of St. Joseph men’s and women’s bowling among the top 10 teams in the country the first week of March.
March also marked the occasion for our annual Humanities Fest, which was held on March 19-21. For these three days, there were a variety of presentations, visual displays, and a stage production presented by our faculty, students, and invited guests. The theme for this year’s fest was Heritage. The festival celebrates the power of philosophy, the arts, religion, literature, and history in shaping meaningful lives.
On March 19, we celebrated the feast of St. Joseph with Mass and our annual St. Joseph’s Table. A number of our faculty and staff contributed goodies for all to enjoy on our patronal feast. On March 15, we held our annual Mass and brunch for our St. Joseph’s Society members. The St. Joseph’s Society is composed of some of the larger donors to the college.
Also during March, we held our annual Grad Finale, at which time our soon-to-be graduates got prepped for graduation. They picked up their caps and gowns and completed necessary paperwork in preparation for graduation on May 10. Later this month, we will also host our Grad Toast, where degree candidates will be invited for snacks and a celebratory toast with faculty and staff on April 24.
As our semester winds down, the month of April will be time for students to finish up final projects, papers, and exams. It’s always a busy time, with other events as well. Our last day of classes will be May 2, and commencement exercises will be on May 10.
