Father Benjamin Berinti, C.PP.S., celebrates 40 years
Father Benjamin Berinti, C.PP.S., was born in June 1958 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He entered Brunnerdale Seminary in Canton, Ohio, on August 1, 1972. He was incorporated on June 14, 1981, at St. Charles Seminary in Carthagena, Ohio. On June 22, 1985, Bishop James Garland ordained Fr. Berinti at St. Charles Seminary in Carthagena, Ohio, as a priest.
Fr. Berinti served his diaconate from June 1984 to January 1985 at St. Augustine Church in Minster, Ohio.
On July 15, 1985, Fr. Berinti entered campus ministry and teaching at St. Joseph’s College, Rensselaer, Indiana.
From September 1988 to July 1989, he was in the graduate study program at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. Fr. Ben received his Doctor of Ministry degree in January 1991.
In September of 1989, Fr. Berinti was assigned as Director of C.PP.S. Theologate Formation at CTU in Chicago, Illinois. On July 7, 1993, Fr. Berinti was at St. Xavier University in Chicago, Illinois, serving in campus ministry and teaching in the Department of Religion.
He became pastor of St. Andrew Church in Orlando, Florida, on July 15, 1996. On July 1, 2002, he became the pastor at the Church of the Nativity in Longwood, Florida.
On July 1, 2008, Fr. Berinti joined the staff at San Pedro Spiritual Development Center in Winter Park, Florida.
On July 1, 2010, he was elected vice provincial for the former Cincinnati Province. On July 1, 2013, he was assigned Dean of the Catholic Center at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida.
As Fr. Berinti continued following God’s call, he became director of formation for the former Cincinnati Province on Sept. 1, 2013. In 2017, he was then assigned as the pastor at Immaculate Conception Church in Melbourne Beach, Florida. From July 31, 2022, to July 1, 2023, Fr. Berinti was pastor at Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph’s churches in Melbourne Beach and Palm Bay, Florida. He remains pastor of Immaculate Conception today.
Fr. Berinti serves as a member of the U.S. Province Provincial Council. He is the author of “Tucked in the Rocks,” “There Will Always Be Something Missing,” “Stooping Down,” “Cups of the Covenant: From Passover to Eucharist,” “Firestarters: For the Seasons of our Life,” and five limited edition chapbooks.
